Yes you can use the second port on the Qlogic cards to connect to the second san. The reason Dell states that it is not a good thing as that if you were to have that HBA fail in the server then you lose connection to both san’s. What you will need to do if you are going to do this is to ensure that your zoning is correct for both san’s and server so that you won’t run into any issues accessing any luns.
