I will apologize in advance for not being able to provide great detail to this question, since my server in question is currently down/ dead.

We have an older PowerVault NX200 that has been in service since 2011. Problem has recently appeared that hard drives are missing and unable to boot into windows. In the remote diagnostics the system tells me that the hard drives are ok. But when you look at the virtual disks I am told they are offline.

i was able to restore the OS with the Dell recovery disk. Even though this message never disappeared we where able to function with the server, non-critical operation. Well the server has died again, same message. Before the second failure I was able to make a copy of the second partition that contained the company data. I have not wanted to wipe and rebuild the (RAID) virtual disk since I am unsure if the problem will persist.

My concern is that if I wipe and rebuild the raid will this continue to happen. Neither myself or my boss setup this server originally and we are unsure if they had a previous hard drive failure and never rebuilt the raid array correct. I found this in the specs "POWEREDGE EXPANDABLE RAID CONTROLLER NUMBER, S300, ADAPTER" but not familiar with this controller unless I am reading it incorrectly does not look to be a PERC controller which I have worked with before.
