Hello,
Have some one known telnet root and password for accessing to controller?
Thank you.
We have two physical hosts (256GB RAM/dual 14 core processors/SSD's etc) both connected to an MD3800i using multipath (set up with the Dell storage software).
So from both physical hosts I can read/write from/to the MD3800i at 1GB/sec, no problem - it performs great.
We are wanting to set up Hyper-V CSV and run virtual machines in this CSV. I create the LUN and quorum and present to both hosts. Both hosts now have c:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\ as the LUN on the SAN. So far, so good...
I can copy a 9GB file in around 5 seconds to this C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\ directory. I can also read 9GB in around 5 seconds by copying it from C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\ to C:\. Again, all good and expected performance.
Then comes the issue. If I copy a 9GB file (9GB is just an example, it can be any size) from C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\ to C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\ it takes 25 seconds.
I then come over a feature on the MD3800i called ODX which should offload all iSCSI traffic onto the SAN (thus treating it like a local file copy on the SAN) instead of the server having to read the data, to then write it back. I am running the latest firmware, I have run smcli and executed "set storageArray odxsetting = true;" I have also checked it is enabled on the host OS by doing the following:
Set-ItemProperty hklm:\system\currentcontrolset\control\filesystem -Name "FilterSupportedFeaturesMode" -Value 0
As it takes 25 seconds for 9GB, I can only presume at this point that ODX isn't actually working, even though it's an advertised feature on the MD3800i product page.
As you can imagine with this poor performance, when we create a virtual machine in the CSV, local disk performance within the virtual machine is degraded massively and can consistently local file copy around 20MB/sec which is unacceptable.
How can we properly get ODX working on our MD3800i for CSV (I presume that's what the issue is here)? It clearly isn't an issue with the SAN or accessing the SAN else we wouldn't be able to copy or read a 9GB file in around 5-7 seconds (disk benchmark programs also show around 1-1.2GB/sec transfer speeds in both directions).
Many thanks for any help you can provide.
I have an ML6000 that was purchased used from a company that was consolidating data centers. Once we powered the unit on we went to login to the OCP using admin/password. This didn't work and we are unable to get the password from where it was purchased. I need the reset procedure to reset this password back to defaults so I can configure the ML6000 as a new unit. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Have a MD3200. Note, this is NOT the MD3200i. Just the MD3200.
Booting up one of the controllers says error threshold exceeded. Client_Corrupt_DB_Detected_On_Alt.
The other controller says Warning this controller is locked down due to detected corruption in the primary database.
All the drives in this unit are new. I have no data that needs to be recovered. How do I reset this device to factor defaults so I may set it up with my R710's for a new 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster?
Note: I am able to see the devices via Putty as I have the serial cable.
Note: Again, there is no data to be backed up. I'm all set there. It's ok for any operation to be destructive to data. The data has already been moved.

Hi,
We recently had a disk fail in our MD3200i and at the time, unreadable sectors on paricular volume were reported. We've replaced the disk and rebuilt ok but the unreadable sectors message is still showing. Of the two VHDs on the volume, one was unreadable and we've managed to restore it elsewhere. The other VHD seems to be ok but I'm concerned that there may still be corruption that we haven't hit yet.
Am I safe to remove the damaged VHD and clear the unreadable sectors alert or are some other diags I can run to check the volume?
Thanks,
Dick
Currently have a single Windows Server 2008 R2 box with two mapped drives to my MD3000. I am getting ready to bring up a new server and wish to disconnect one of these mapped drives and connect it to the new server. I have the basic concept as to what needs to be done...but never having been involved in setting up or re-configuring iSCSI before I am a bit nervous about it and would like to get some detailed steps if possible. Can anyone lend a hand here or point me to any existing *detailed* docs?
In other words...move one of two existing LUNS to a new server, maintaining the remaining LUN on the original server.
I am getting ready to upgrade several of my older Server 2008 R2 boxes to Server 2012. One of my boxes has connections to an MD3000i. I ran across a thread on a different forum *suggesting* the possibility that the MD3000i was incompatible with Server 2012. It was not flat out said as such...but I thought I'd better run this up the flag pole here to get some kind of confirmation one way or the other!
What's the word?
On one of my Windows 2012 servers, I frequently see the following error. Anyone knows what this is about? I have a feeling this is causing slowness at times on the server. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

we have upgraded firmware and drive software. Tried a factory reset of all configuration. Tried reseating the Library Control Card. Bought a new Library Control Card.
None of this has helped. it is obvious to us that the robotic arm is getting power (it has lights on it) but its not moving at all during initialization.
any other ideas?
Hello,
Trying to connect an R720 to an MD3400, but the Storage Manager does not recognize the MD3400 is attached.
We are using the 406-BBDM LSI 12Gb SAS 9300-8e HBA controller that was selected when we configured the MD3400.
The R720 is running Server 2008 Standard (not R2).
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Dell PowerVault 114x for our backup needs. The other day, I swapped the tape over, and once the tape was loaded, it started displaying the error code "6" on the display. When I press the manual eject, nothing happens.
I try to unplugged the SCSI cable and power, then power on again. but did't working.
I try to hold eject button for 30 seconds and more but didn't working.
What can I do,

Hi
We are upgrading our Quantum LTO3 external drive to a Quantum LTO5 external drive. Part of the upgrade procedure requires the installation of a Dell 6Gbps SAS HBA Card. I will be uninstalling the present SCSI adaptor used for the LTO3 drive and installing the SAS card in its place.
The card will be installed in a PowerVault NX3000 running Windows Storage Server 2008
I am trying to find a driver for this, but can only find integrated SAS card with internal tape drive drivers.
Can I install the card and then run Windows Update? Or, is there a dedicated driver I can install? If there is a dedicated driver does anyone have a link for it, please?
Thanks

I’m just learning how to use my MD3000, and I have a question about attaching to a virtual hard drive. I have created a VHD, and it does seem to be working fine – but it took over 5 hours to complete a 450 GB, fixed-size VHD! Over 5 hours for the progress thermometer phase to complete.
Is this normal?
Thanks!
hi all
i had a disk fail on a MD3000, which i replaced with an incorrect dell certified disk model (mistake by reseller)
i returned the disk and now have an exact match, a 'Dell' constellation model: ST1000NM0033
however the physical disk slot is marked Incompatible in Storage manager and SMCLI, even with no disk in the slot!
ive tried SMCLI commands from other forum posts to fail the old disk. ive also tried initializing and reviving..
im sure this disk is compatible and correct model, any suggestions?
The performance of my TL4000 tape library has recently decreased dramatically and I'm at a bit of a loss trying to determine why. I have been using this tape library with VEEAM 8 running on 2012 R2 for over a year now and sometime within the last month or so, performance has gone in the tank.
It was running pretty much as a set it and forget it system, but the other day I wandered by and heard the autoloader active in the middle of the day. Thinking that was odd, I decided to have a look at the backup logs and where I used to regularly see anywhere from 40-70MBps throughput to the unit (single LTO4 drive), I am now seeing a max of 14.5MBps.
Here are the things I've already done to try to troubleshoot. If anyone can offer additional insight, I'm all ears. None of the following had any meaningful impact.
Verified MS iSCSI initiator config, then removed and recreated it. Tried single path and MPIO. No affect
Tried intitator interfaces on the same subnet (normal config, L2 switched) as well as routed. No affect
Tested with IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool, same throughput
Set up iSCSI on a different machine, Tested with IBM Tape diagnostic, same result
Set up iSCSI initiator on a laptop, connected directly to iSCSI bridge, left port. Same result
Completed a full powerdown reboot of the entire backup infrastructure, blew away and reconfigured iSCSI-SAS bridge, same result.
Reinstalled latest recommended Dell drivers, no affect
Captured iSCSI traffic flow with wireshark, no dropped packets or pause frames. Only suspicious thing I notice are occasional TURs in the iSCSI command stream. I was under the impression that TUR issues were a thing gone since the days of 2008R2, could they have been recently reintroduced?
I'm just about at wits end with it. With backups going this slow, the next batch of actual full backups is going to take a lot longer than the allowed window to complete, not to mention the horriffic amount of shoe shining the drive head is being forced to endure. I can't imagine it'll last very long if this isn't resolved quickly.
Library is running D.10, Drive is LTO4 HH SAS v2 running F991, Bridge is running v1.02.04. Hoping there is something silly that I'm overlooking.
Thanks!

Hello ,
we have just bought 2 aservers R430 wuth a 12 GBPS SAS HBA external and a powervault MD 3200,
which is 6 gbps,
is there any trouble with that?
wich cable do we need? a mini SAS to SAS HD?
thanks to the forum
Hello,
I have replaced an LTO4 drive in a Powervault 114X with an IBM LTO5 drive. When I power it on, though, I'm getting error E with a flashing exclamation point. The IBM documentation here says an E means "Fiber Port offline. NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS DRIVE." What does that mean? Is LTO5 not supported in this enclosure?

Hi,
I have MD3200. I have 4 hosts connected. On each Raid Group, the Virtual Disks have"Access LUN".
The Access LUN have LUN31 on all. If i'll change LUN31 to Lun32 on one host, will i'll i loose/destroy any data ?
Hi
I successfully setup an MD3600i Powervault which has 2 Array controller's installed.
These are connected to a HP Server host via iSCSI connection and the storage is presented as 1 LUN to the Windows Host server.
All working OK and we have stored files on this powervault without error from the Host.
However I cannot now seem to manage the Powervault via the enterprise console. The Array controllers do not want to show up in the console.
I've tried automatic discovery as well as manually adding the controllers.
when adding them manually I get the message that the storage array was added successfully, however the console doesnt list the controllers for me to control!
I've looked in Tools>>Manage Storage Array, however this menu is greyed out.
Automatic discovery says discovery completed (no error) Found 0 manageable devices.
I can ping both the IP addresses and confirmed I'm using the correct IP's by looking in MDCU and checking the mgmt port 0 and port 1 IP addresses.
Anyone come across this before? is it just a management console issue where I might just need to reinstall the software on the host server or is a reboot of the MD3600i required?
Thanks
