we have an issue with our backup device PowerVault 124T, we use backup exact as our makeup software, laatly when we try to backup when of our server it get along time to job completed.
the server that we try to backup has an virtual drive (from an MI3000I), sometimes rebooting the server that host the MI3000 device help, but 2 or 3 weeks later again the ame issue, but laatly even rebooting the server dont help.
I would like to know who we can troobleshoot this iisue.

I am trying to update a MD3220i, which was not updated since long before I inherited it, and am getting an error stating that the storage management software version 10.80.G6.47 I am using is not compatible with the firmware on the RAID controller. The RAID controller module firmware and appware version is 97.70.02.67 - I have downloaded the oldest MDSM I can find and it is still saying this. And I tried to find a manual way to update the firmware but can't seem to locate the instructions, maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Was hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this updated.

Here is my configuration:
1x MD3800F (dual controller with 4 FC port per controller)
2x Brocade 300
1x server 2003 with Emulex FC dual port
1x server 2008 R2.
I create Volume on SAN and map to servers (done on MD3800F).
Before install MDSM software, my server (Windows 2003) sees 8 disks (8 paths to SAN). After installed MDSM software and restart, my still sees 8 duplicated disks from my MD3800F SAN.
The 2008 R2 server is OK after enable MPIO. I did not install MDSM on Windows 2008 R2 server.
Please advise if I missed any step.

Looking for advice. Wanting to purchase to purchase 2 new R630 to create Hyper-V cluster and connect these to an existing MD3220 SAS. This MD3220 SAS already have a Hyper-V Cluster w/2 R610's dually connected and I understand I can connect 2 more R6x0 servers to this same MD3220 with dual paths.

I have a single vmware server connected to an MD3200i with a host mapping to the virtual disk. I have purchased a second vmware host and I would like to allow it to access the same disk for vmotion, etc. How can I change the mapping to group mapping? Can I do that live with all my virtual machines running?
I have an issue with a recently created disk Virtual Disk. I went in to look at the MD3000 through the Modular Disk Storage Manager today and I have a message that says:
Degraded Virtual Disk.
Storage Array: NAME

Raid Level : 1 (It should be 10)

Status: Degraded - partially complete disk group.

I look at Physical Disk tab under STorage Array profile and don't see any errors. I Also look at Disk Group Tabs and see the error there, but it doesn't have any useful information.

It sounds to me like a Disk is/has failed, but I an not sure where I would even begin from there. Any help is greatly appreciated.

we have a number of MD3260 with 60 disk DDP configured on them, and we would like to resize then to 58 disk ddp (and use the 2 disk slots for "regular" luns).
(we can remove a few luns to make sure there's enough unused/unassigned space on the DDP)
has anyone ever done this? is this even possible?

What is the right procedure to replace a disk that is not currently failed?
Can I set the disk offline and then replace the old disk with a new one?

How can I best estimate rebuild times for a RAID 6 disk. The reason for this is that I need to decide how large disks that I will build my file storage on. Precondition is that the raid controller card is not working with anny thing else. I am aware that it is not an exact science but if anyone has an idea on a formula I would be grateful. The Solution is based on R730xd and JBOD's estimated total size is 4 PB.

Apologies in advance for this dumb question but is the Tape library in the Subject line just a tape feeder or is the actual tape drive also a part of it (inside)?
Sorry but I m just accessing the server remotely and thus unable to confirm this first hand. I was just surprised that when I ran the diagnostic utility, it could not detect a tape drive, just the library.
But in the device manager, both tape and library show up.

There is a warning on the 3060e to make sure that the front row of each tray is filled with blanks or drives. The manual simply says that the minimum number of drives is 20.
The unit will ultimately be deployed with more but I need to test a unit with the drives I have at hand (less than 20).
Is this requirement just for airflow? In which case I can fill them with any old spare drive temporarily.
I have spent the better part of the day trying to get vmm 2012 r2 to see the array. Tried iSNS server, Pegasus SMI-S drivers and am my wits end. I can get VMM to see the host through CIMXML but it can't see the array. I configured Pegasus to use the host IP and the host does see the array.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get it to see the array?

Couple of questions about iSCSI bridge compatibility and capabilities:
Is the iSCSI bridge compatible with LTO-6 drives?
I understand that it is possible to connect 2 host to the library via the iSCSI bridge if we split the magazines and the tape drives into 2 logical libraries. Does this mean that our backup platform (CommVault) will see 2 separate libraries as well?
